16 March 2012
During this term you can expect to hear from your children’s teachers asking for help. It might be that you can provide some time or goods beforehand or maybe you can help out on the day. Each stall requires different things – but please remember that many hands make light work. If everyone helps out a little bit, it will be so much easier.
Go Vertical, Water balls, bouncy castles, haunted house, fairy grotto, face painting, pony rides, dunking chamber, quick fire raffles, onsite silent auction, cheerleading displays, volunteer fire service, martial arts display, multicultural food stalls, cake stall, lolly stall, second hand book stall, ice creams/iceblocks, drinks, balloon twisting

Who is the PTA?
The PTA is a group of parents who work alongside the school to organise fundraising activities and social events for our children and their families. Our PTA was established within 5 weeks of the school opening in 2004, and has been active ever since. Through such things as special school lunches for children once a term, Discos, movie nights, car boot sales, family portrait sittings, and silent auctions we have already raised several thousand dollars and provided the school with:
- staging in the Hall
- a sound system in the Hall
- chairs for the Hall
- remote control blinds for the high windows in the Hall
- playground markings for children's games
- a shade sail outside the Library
- the full "Building Blocks to Literacy" kit which is used in junior classes
- While still keeping the PTA name, our organisation is more of a support group for the school rather than a formal organisation of Parents and Teachers. We meet together once a term, then other contact is via email. These meetings are quite informal and relaxed, and they are a great way for new families to the area to meet people. We receive updates from the Board of Trustees representative and the Staff representatives about what is happening in and around our school, then work through the scheduled programme of events for the year.
- We would love to have you join our team. Everyone is welcomed and your contributions are valued. The PTA cannot operate without parent/caregiver involvement. This can be as formal or informal as you choose. You can join us as a Member of the PTA or as a Friend of the PTA. As a 'friend' you can just register your details with us so we can contact you when we need help with particular projects.
- For more information contact the school office, and they will make sure someone follows up with you.
- It’s been a while since we had a gala at Oteha Valley School. Sure, it’s about raising some much needed money for the school, but it’s also a great opportunity to bring the whole community together for some good, old-fashioned fun. Yes, that means you’ll find a whole heap of those stalls you remember from your own childhood, and a day of entertainment.
- What’s it for?
- Good question. We’d like to hear answers from you. We want to contribute the funds from the gala towards a specific target, but we’d like to hear feedback from you as to what that goal should be. At this stage suggestions have been a playground for the middle school children, more Netball/Tennis courts, and an Astroturf Hockey pitch. Tell us what you think via email to the school or through the gala suggestion box located in the office. (Other gala-related ideas are welcome too!)
We want YOU!
Each class will be given responsibility for a particular stall. During the 4
Donations
Over the coming months, we’ll be asking for your help in supplying some donations. Again, it’s a matter of a little bit from everyone helping.
So far we have...
