Cool Kids Grow 2012

Greetings my little Garden Gnomes

Keep those sunflowers well watered, and if they are outside and in flower, their faces should be moving to follow the sun across the sky! - amazing.  I am really looking forward to seeing all these amazing plants on our Valentines day Great Sunflower measure!

Keep picking little leaves of those lettuces for delicious mini summer salads and why not add a few parsley leaves as well.

Cool Kids Grow!

Wow! we had so much fun yesterday planting those sunflowers.

It was all slightly chaotic - but very exciting...  If you didn't manage to take home one of the competition forms I have attached it below.  I have also attached the plan for the next couple of week.

Next week we will be making lettuce gardens for the children to take home.

Each child will need a plastic food container with lid - similar to the take-a-way ones

Donations of potting mix or lettuce seeds would be most welcome!

Hi there fellow gardeners

I am looking forward to the first ever annual sunflower competition tomorrow.

Mr Holmes is busy putting seeds into cups already for you to add your seed raising mix.

This will hopefully make it a little easier on everyone as I have given out nearly 200 little notices!

Cook Kids Grow!

A big hello to everyone in Gardenland!

Newsletters have gone home today to all those children from Years 2 - 6 who expressed interest in gardening.

We will be meeting outside of Room 14 every Tuesday after lunch eating.

This coming Tuesday we will be planting Sunflower seeds.  We will be having a little competition, who can grow the tallest, widest, wonkiest, shortest or the deadest sunflower!

Any donations of sunflower seeds or seed raising mix would be greatly appreciated.

Term 4

Cool Kids Garden!

Greetings fellow Gardeners

As per the school newsletter, you will be well aware that we are intending to develop a garden for the children at our school.  Initially this will start off with maybe one or two potagers then develop over time to include a variety of gardens.  The aim is to foster an awareness of where our food comes from, to grow healthy food for our bodies, and of course share and consume the healthy food that we have grown.

We also would like to encourage families to start growing their own healthy fruit and vegetables at home!
