Cultural Groups
Kia ora, Talofa, Fakalofa lahi atu, Bula, Kia orana!
Each Monday our Multicultural Group meets and our Senior Kapa Haka group on a Wednesday and Friday. It is very exciting as we have recently started a Junior Kapa Haka who meet on Tuesday!
At the moment we are learning Pasifika dances with a focus on Cook Islands. At Kapa Haka we use a strong emphasis on Maori waiata, Te Reo Kori, pois and an understanding of customs and protocols. Some students are in both of the groups. This is fantastic as they give up their lunchtimes to practice!!!
We are looking forward to practicing and learning new dances in preparation for our school gala and for visitors to our school including the Onepoto Festival in Term 4!
If you missed out in joining our group come along and meet us in Room 7 after lunch eating on a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday or Friday. We would love to see you there!
This is a picture of some of us who were part of our Kapa Haka & Multicultural group at the Onepoto Festival. We performed with 46 students and did such a fantastic job to represent our school.
I was so proud of the roopu. Ka Pai!
