Welcome to all Parents and Children in Room 19

Welcome to all children and parents in Room 19.  I hope you all had an exciting and restful summer holiday although the weather was initially a bit disappointing.  Room 19 this year is a composite class with both Year 5 & 6 children.  The first few weeks will be dedicated to setting up class routines, children getting to know their peers and me getting to know my children.

Topic     

Our Topic for this term is Tangata Whenua which means People of the Land. To compliment the Topic our yearlong focus is sustainability.

Maths

Numeracy will be our focus this term with an emphasis on Place Value.

Reading

We will begin the term using the CSI reading kit. Some children have already been enjoying using this resource as it is very interactive and there has been a noted improvement in their reading skills. 

Library

Thursday is our library day. If your child has any unreturned library books at home could he/she please bring it in.

Homework

Homework goes home every Friday and is due back on Thursday for the basic facts test.  Please ensure your child is doing both Math and Spelling homework for the week.
