Room 11

Welcome to all the wonderful children and families of Room 11. I hope you have had a relaxing holiday and are ready for another busy term.

This term we will be practising hard for our school cross country. Please make sure you have sensible running shoes and bring your water bottle.

Class Information

Our schoolwide focus for this year is 'Sustainability'.

Term 2 Topic: This term we are learning about Floating and Sinking.

Our big questions are:

How do boats float? and Why do some objects sink?

Reading

Children will take home a new reading book every Monday and Wednesday.

Our Library day is on a Thursday. Children must return all library books before a new one is issued.

Maths                           

We use the Ministy of Educations Early Numeracy Approach. This is a hands on approach where the children complete activities which are appropriate for their own level.

Our strand focus this term is Statistics and Measurement (Mass)

 Spelling

This year the children will be learning to spell words from the Essential Lists. Each week the children will be given a list of words to learn for homework.

For homework your child needs to practise writing the words down as you call them out. Putting them into a sentence is useful so the children can learn them in context

A test will be given every Friday focussing on the words they have learnt that week.
