Welcome to Room 3

We are a New Entrant/Year One class of bright young minds.

Things to Remember for the First Day - Wednesday 1 February

Everyone is nervous! - and that is okay! We are all in the same boat.  Have a little talk to your child if they seem a little unsure and explain just that - but school is a place to learn new things, to make new friends and of course to learn.  We will be having lots of fun on the way . They will be fine.   If we have a few tears - that is okay too!  best to be reasurring - give a kiss, a big hug and then leave them to it.   - although this could be harder for Mum than the kids!

What you will need for the first day! - and subsequent days of the first term.

Sunscreen - apply this at home in the morning - use an all day sunscreen if you can.

A School Hat - named       

A Drink - named

Brainfood - this is a healthy snack of fruit or vegetables - please have this already cut into small bite sized pieces for easy eating  -  Place this in a small container and please explain that this is to be eaten at brainfood time. (which is round about 10.00 am)

Morning tea and Lunch - often children are confused about what to eat and when, so for the first few days go through their lunch box and explain what is to be eaten at morning tea, what is to be eaten at lunch time.  Little notes or smiley faces from home make lunch time lots of fun - and can be reassuring.  Children have ten minutes of supervised seated lunch eating time - although children are welcome to continue to sit and eat after this time.

We have a pack it in and pack it out policy - ie no rubbish bins, what food packages you bring to school must go home in the lunch box.  This can get messy with yoghurt pots and fruit skins etc.  Have a little plastic bag tucked into the lunch box and explain that this is for their yoghurt pots and fruit cores, skins, pips etc.

Pencil Cases - again named - with pencils and other stationery items.  Please name individual items.

If you have already bought the stationery packs from the office - please name all books, folders etc. and place in the book bag.  This keeps everthing all neat and organsied.  You many choose to coverseal your childrens books or not.  There is no expectation that this needs to be done.  

Our Library day will be Mondays after lunch.

Reading books and Homework will begin in Week 3. 

Don't forget to bring the Camera if it is your child's first day of school.
